Pay By The Night
Does anyone know if you could just walk up to a hotel in Playa Dorada and pay a certain amount per night and have the All Inclusive??? If anyone knows examples that would be great.......

We did this last year at the Occidental resort in Playa Grande. We were motorcycling along the coast and just stayed one night at this resort. They charged us $42US for a 24 hour stay which included 4 meals, all drinks, snacks, the room, and use of all facilities for 24 hours. Don't know about Playa Dorada, but if they had a room available, I can't imagine them not wanting to rent it.

Just yesterday I was looking a an Internet rate of $210-250 per night for the Don Juan Resort in Boca Chica, and when I ran that price by a Dominican friend he said he recently stayed there on a "walk-in" basis and paid RD$1,700/person (approx.$38US) for the 24 hour stay, all-inclusive of meals, drinks facilities etc.. Perhaps most of the AI's do the same? That said, who knows if the walk-in rate might be different depending on if you're obviously a foreigner/tourist vs. obviously Dominican...???

I know that you can walk into Jack Tar and buy a 24 hour pass for an overnight stay (as long as they are not full). I don't know the price but it would be less than $100 US for sure. This is the number at Jack Tar for the main reception (they speak English and Spanish) and they will be able to give you the current rate - (809) 320-3800. Good luck.

When we went to Occidental Grand Flamenco in Playa Dorada last year we asked about doing this. I think the price was about $50 per person.
I think they also have a rate for coming into the hotel for just the day (AI) and not even staying the night (we asked about this because we were going to pay for one of the tour guides to come in on his day off).

A definite possibility
Have never attempted this at Playa Dorada, but I have walked up and stayed just a few nights at AI's in Bayahibe and Bavaro. I think this is low-season or close to it? So now would be a better chance at occupancy rather than during high-season. Someone from the hotel industry would know for sure.

I do it all the time, just head up to the north coast for the weekend and walk in asking if there are rooms available.
The only problem I ever have is people looking at my Dominican wife and thinking she's someone I just met and am desperate to get jiggy with. I guess now that you pose this question I can see why walking in and asking for a room might seem strange to a business that books most of its rooms through agencies overseas.

Its also done at Paradise Beach Resort & Casino.. unsure of how much my friend paid but I'm sure the rate changes from day to day to person to person anyways...
