Question Question about the impuesto de entrada/salida

I know this is a stupid question but here's a little background.

I left DR last year and came to Scandinavia to study. At SDQ i wasn't asked for the 10USD (at that time) impuesto de salida (or entrada?) and i even asked a guy at Migration departure if i should pay him and he said "no, you don't have to pay" (but i saw the woman in front of me gave him the money). I'm going back to DR in 2 weeks and i wonder if i have to pay that fee. If i have to pay for it, is it still 10 USD or has it increased? I'm born and raised dominican with dominican passport .

Thanks in advance and sorry for my ignorance. I'm not so much of a traveller and this airport would be the first where i pay for entering/leaving a country.

Tourist visas cost $10 US upon arrival, but as you are Dominican, I would expect that you do not have to pay.
Departure tax is $20 US now.

If you are on a scheduled airline like AA or CO it is in the ticket and you don't pay it to anyone when you leave. I think the cash US$20 bit is mainly the charters now. And frankly they are brainless and should do it in the ticket also.

Ask them if it is prepaid or not, or look at the codes on the ticket ( if they actually give out real tickets anymore) and see if there is a charge you can reconcile to departure taxes. Otherwise have US$20 handy to pay either when you check in or at the departure gate.

NB I assume AF = Air France.
