I could be very nasty at this point but I will refrain. All I know is what I have seen and Bird if you would take the time to get to know some of these women I think you may sing another song. Sure they are not going to receive the outstanding citizenship award, but who am I to judge. After all only “birds” and angels have wings, and soar the havens looking down on and judging others.

the point i think that is NOT getting across here...is that the "working girls" there are not like picking up a hooker in hunts point. its more of a "date" is how i have observed things. I see they guys with their chicas...and they buy them dinner and drinks...bring them gifts...etc. I think they are paying for companionship as well as the extras.

i can totaly understand how this whole thing can repulse the people that live and work in the dr.....but its a fact that a lot of men and women travel there not just for the beaches and great scenerey and food...etc.....but some just wanna party and get their freak on.

I kinda relate to 2times thing about waiters/vs hustler/ho argument. Years ago when i first moved to NYC i was a waiter. I used to frequent a hustler bar accross the street from where i worked (only for a drink...i wasnt there to purchase the "trade"). ANyhoo...i remember this one conversation i had with a hustler. I told him that i didnt make any judgements about his profession....he was selling his body...i as a waiter had to sell my personality...and the folks on wall street are selling their souls (how prophetic...i know work on wall street LOL). Now this hustler dude actualy ended up buying ME drinks. Again...its all about respect of the other person.

I agree there are some idiot gringos who fall in love basically with anyone who will give them attention, but the norm in BC at least is that it is a transaction, not a "date" , no meals, and drinks, etc., suing teh throwing good money after bad adage.

Sure the girl will then try to string the gringo along for Western Union money ( I have helped girls translate into English the same e-mail to 5 guys at once). Other than the suckers like that, it is an hour, or a massage parlor, in and out of the hotel after the in and out IN the hotel.

I can not make a qualified statement about the working women of BC because I have only been in BC one time. I can however share my experiences in other parts of the DR, especially in the South.

Up front I will tell you that I have been a player. Give them the money, do your thing, then move on.

90% of all of the women I have ever met in the DR worked in bars, restaurants, or in the tourist trade, so as a gringo I thought they were all professional working girls. Not until last year did I realize that their occupation did not always dictate my way of thinking. Believe me there are many women working in these types of industries who are not players. They work to make a living and to meet someone to share their lives with. Not all women in the DR can be had for money or the hope of moving to the US or Europe.

I know from experience that you can pick up a date, develop a casual relationship and have sex, (sometimes on the first date) and find out that the woman you are with is not a hooker, punta, or whore. In fact you can even fall in love with women in these places. As CC said, “where else in the world can a 50+ year old man, 50lbs., overweight, find a rock hard, knock dead beauty, that would even give them the time of day.

With that said, why not buy a dinner and a few drinks. Who knows, you may have some great conversation, find out what the girl is all about, realize that she is just like the girls back home, but lives in a whole different world than you could ever understand, and have a great time with a beauty, whether you get laid or not. Don’t worry, if that is all you want there are plenty of female players who will gladly take your heart and you money.
