Andres, Boca Chica is a poor barrio just off Avenida Las Americas. The last time that I was there, at least 25% of the people that lived there, were Haitians. Yes, is real close to BC.

Ps: If you have the need to go to Andres, make sure that you go during the day.

OK, just kidding, it wouldn't be safe. Coquito , which is the area right next to Boca Chica is kind of neat but Andres is about 3-5 km farther away, and is a sugar town and not really tourist focused at all. Interesting question - where did you hear of it or how did you think to go there?

I would not let the Haitians be an issue, I have been to the batey near San Isidro and they could not have been more open and hospitable to us. Also there is a Haitian neighborhood right behind the Hamaca, approached via the alley way across from the Hotel Hamilton, and I have been down there as well and they were paying no mind at all to me.
