Las Salinas & San Jose de Ocoa

Hi, I'm returning to the Dominican Republic after having not been there since 2001. I have two quick questions for the forum.

1. My phone #s for the Salinas High Wind Center are no longer working. Does anybody know if they're still open? That's a great place, I hope it hasn't closed down. If it's open, does anybody have a phone #?

2. Can anybody recommend things to do around San Jose de Ocoa? I've been to the town but want to do some hiking in the area -- where should I go? Any specific recommendations?

why ocoa? my wife grew up there. plan on doing something there soon
