I'm a new member to this forum, and I'd like to start off by saying that it's a great forum. You, as well as all members, do a great job providing insight to all travellers.
My wife and I are from Gatineau (Quebec) and are repeat clients of the Palladium Grand Bavaro.
We've had, the last 2 years, the pleasure of meeting and dealing directly with the General Manager of the Palladium, Daniel Tur (i.e. requesting a specific room, etc...). As I'm sure you already know, Daniel is now the General Manager of the Fiesta Palace (since June 2004).
I sent Daniel an email on September 20, 2004 to let him know that our thoughts and prayers were with all the wonderful people of the Dominican Republic.
Further to my email, Daniel responded as follows : (Note I've cut and pasted his response).

Thank you very much. Today is the first day that we have internet. We are working hard to get everything back to normal and although we do not have major damage in the hotel we will take a long time to fully get back on our feet, specially as the country has been severely affected.
