congrats to Omar Minaya, new GM of the Mets!
or should we say our "condolences". anyway, he held out for this job and really happy to see him have it. he moved with his family from moca when he was about 10 yrs old. he did a great job in montreal where he is extremely popular as GM here and will likely bring a world series back to mets. his claim to fame is having worked for dubya while he was with texas rangers and having scouted sammy sosa for the same club. i spoke to him a few weeks ago before an expos game and he said that he would be very interested in being GM for Dominican National team in World Cup of Baseball which will likely take place February 2006.
