This is a very interesting link. You can see the entire country. On the night shots, you can see Santiago and Santo Domingo glowing! I did not know that you can see glowing cities from outerspace!! This is a live shot from outerspace!! When you zoom out completely, you can even see the entire US glowing during the night shots! This is unbelievable!!

i agree!!

it's been 2 years since my last trip, but i always have my nose to the plane window so that i can get my first glimpse of RD. thanks for the links.

LOVE the pictures! Thank you for that....wish I was in those picutures.. maybe I was!!

Makes me feel closer to the DR somehow! LOL

But really..thank you..that was very intresting!

And mobrouser...I know what you mean about your nose the plane window, that is me everytime! And the last 10 minutes while you are coming down befor eyou land..always feel like 10 hours!!!!

One thing I noticed in the last photo is that if ytou look at Puerto Rico it looks all lit up, while The DR is mostly dark except for a couple of small circles (SDQ and STI)...

Here's a satellite photo of the whole world where the difference of nightime illuminations between the richer and poorer countries is remarkable. There is a speck of light where the DR is, while PR glows brightly.

It's a reflection of population density and energy consumption levels. Poor people may still be having too many babies, but I read somewhere that over the course of their lifetime 40 'third world' babies will still consume less energy than one 'first world' child.

Cool photo Chiri. For some reason Florida, South England, Japan, California and Sicily seem the brightest.
