leaving january 9

hi!
we are leaving jan 9 for the barcelo talanquera. this is our first trip to the DR. I am from canada and was planning on taking no cash just a bank card. is this a good idea? should i get US cash before we go. are there ATM's that dispense US cash. any hep would be great

Definitely bring some cash in US$ and travelers checks.

I agree...i always have a combination of travelers checks and cash....and only use the ATM's as a last resort.

and i always rent the safe in the room.

Go...and have fun!!!!!!!! i have to wait at least another month till i can go!! :-(

ATM's do not dispense u.s Cash, only pesos. So bring u.s currency. You can use your bank card, but take out only what you need as it gives you local currency.
