Unhappy tell me you see sun

hi all,

newcomer here. I'm looking forward to my first trip to the DR tomorrow morning, but am getting worried about the weather -- seems like there've been a lot of thunderstorms this week.

can I expect to see any sun this weekend? is it a brief, passing thunderstorm each day, or rain throughout the day?

I'd been planning to spend my four days in samana/las galeras... now I'm wondering if I shoudl change my itinerary if it's going to rain the whole time. advice?

thanks.

Cool

I am ready to book a last minute leaving on the 20th but the forcast is not looking good at all.

Fortunately, the weather according to Planner is often much nicer than these forcasts.

I know these longer range forcasts can and often do change dramatically but it is still better to see more sun than clouds and thunderstorms.

It is bleak BUT hopefully you will get some sunshine. Even if you don't get enough sun you will still have a great time.....

Default If you ask planner...

very nicely, she could arrange for you to have a wonderful weekend in Punta Cana, just like she did for me in POP!!!

But you have to ask nice...with lots of please, and thank you's...

Don't worry too much about the weather, it might rain for a couple of minutes and then the sun would be out again, and you will be asking for something to soothe your burn!!!

We had so much rain in Puerto Plata, two nights ago I tried to cross a 'puddle' with my Mitsubishi Montero when my SUV turned into a submarine. By the time I had to abandon the jeep, the water was breast high. Hope the insurance company covers flood damage.

Rain continued yesterday, last night, and now this morning. There are unconfirmed reports of landslides and many instances of beds, tv's, and furniture floating around some streets in POP.

Noaa is predicting that the rains "WILL LIKELY CONTINUE FOR A FEW MORE DAYS OVER THE CENTRAL AND SW CARIBBEAN". Flash floods and flooding of low areas will almost certainly be a part of our lives for the next few days.

The roads in Puerto Plata are a mess! All the "repairs" to previous damage is washing away. I use the word repairs very loosely.

Some streets are like rivers at times and others are like garbage dumps. Puerto Plata streets mostly slope down to the harbour and all the run off from our "mountain" heads downhill taking whatever is in the way with it. WE have all kinds of dirt, garbage, sticks, and other crap on the roads.

Clean up crews are all over the place. It is amazing how fast things get cleaned up. Unfortunately with this weather the mess is back again....
