Question RIU Resort Construction

Hi Everyone,
First off I want to thank all of the folks who donate their time keeping this web site interesting and informative. I have been "lurking" here for a good part of the last two and a half years.
Last fall we, my wife, daughter and my self, decided to take the plunge and book a trip to paradise. After some review, we selected the RIU Bamboo hotel complex in Punta Cana. Recently, we received a letter from our travel agent which informed us that the property next to the hotel would be under construction , and that we could keep our reservations with a 10 percent reduction in price or we could cancel and get our money back.
My question is if you had to recomend a hotel of equatible ammenities which one would it be? Or, would you take the hotel room and hope that the noise didnt inconvience you too much. I really want my family to have a nice three week vacation.
Thanks for your assistance

Bruce

Will not likely be a problem, Riu's have so much to offer with access to all the other Riu properties in the complex, take the discount and go and enjoy.

I am not familiar with the property but if a travel agent is offering you a discount after you've booked, conditions must be pretty bad. I would try to find a comparable property in the area?

Default Conditions

Conditions are not bad, they are building a new resort on the vacant lot next to the Bambu, the only affected area are the buildings 33, 28 and 27 on the north side of the resort and in fact there is a roadway between the properties where the construction is going on.
There might be noise during the day but who is in their rooms then.

Many people in their rooms at 7 or 8 a.m. when construction starts. However, RIU properties are usually quite large so I doubt they would be hammering away near your room.
