Question DR in May

My fiance and I are thinking about visiting the DR the early part of May, but everything I read online or in books pretty much avoids talking about that month. I see that June through October are the rainy months and the second highest tourist season, and that November through April are the highest tourist season. However, I can't find any info on May. Is this a bad time to travel? Does everything basically shut down in May? What's the weather like? Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Default Have no fear............

Elliot,

I've been to the DR in May and the weather was great! It rained one day otherwise I had hot, sunny weather mostly and a few days a little cloud but hot and sun was peaking out.
It's not high season so it's not too busy in the resorts.
I went another time in the end of April which I found about the same type of weather.
Go enjoy I had a blast, do what I do. I only think SUN SUN SUN and I end up with a great week every time I'm in the DR!!!

Your can never predict the weather so I just hope for the best!
Even the rain won't stop me hee hee make the best of it!!!

Have fun on your trip!!!!!

Re Elliot
Think it would help if you wrote where in the DR you planned to go.

Thanks, Music!

Tor, I think we are leaning towards Puerto Plata. Unless you suggest otherwise?

No I'm living in Sosua, it's a great place. The weather will probably be best very early in may.

Thanks for the info! I'm getting more excited the more I find out about DR. My parents are allowing us to exchange their timeshare as our wedding gift. Our options are limited to the following resorts: Coconut Palms, Breezes POP, Villas Jazmin en Costambar, Village Caraibe, Lifestyle Crown Villas (I think they are too expensive), Azzurro Club Cabarete, Club Sabatini in Sosua, or Gran Paradise Bavaro in Punta Cana. Anybody have any thoughts/recommendations on any of the above? We were leaning towards Breezes, but don't really know much about any of the others. Again, thanks for all help and info!

Ofcourse you should choose Club Sabatini in Sosua. I think it's a good hotel, and you have the beach on one side and the center of Sosua on the other side.
