I am still reeling in shock at the generosity of some of these nations, especially those poorer ones. It just goes to show at times like this how people rally around, too bad it has to take a catastrophe of this magnitude for this to happen, but it sure restores ones faith.
My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of this tragic disaster. Hope the relief efforts continue to pour in from around the world.

This thread will probably be closed as it is not DR related. Just before it gets closed, let me add that I think this is absolutely wonderful... a miracle in my eyes. And every American out there should give thanks... And every other nation out there should feel a little humbled...

On the other hand.. the worst comment that I've seen coming from the US, is "well, high time... time to give back something as they've been sucking on moma's tit for a long time".

This stuff makes my head sore... OK, close the thread... I've had the last word... that's all I ever want...

This thread is DR related, the DR donated along with other nations.

That's what happens when George Bush speaks off the cuff.

I certainly hope this list is not all inclusive since the Saudi's are not listed.

Default The list is also not inclusive of all the many other donations

from some of the countries mentioned.
For example, an Urban Search and rescue team from Vancouver in British Columbia Canada rescued 119 people in St. Bernard Parish, just outside New Orleans before the American military arrived. The team arrived on day 4 of the disaster after having first been refused entry by FEMA.
The Canadian Red Cross has raised almost $9 million dollars towards the relief efforts and have several hundred volunteers (some from my hometown of North Bay) on their way down to assist the relief efforts.
The Ontario Gov't has paved the way for those wishing to come to Ontario for schooling to do so with no added cost (normally persons coming to school in Ontario must pay tuition fees which are being waved) and several church groups are offering housing to those families wishing to come to the province to do so.

I also heard rumours that the Domincan ball players in Toronto are organizing an 'charity' ball game to raise funds (Maybe one of the Toronto folk can give us more details???)

I could go on but I think we all get the picture......people all over the world are doing what they can to alleviate the immense destruction and displacement that has taken place.

Yes, it sure is now. I forgot about the DR's contribution... sometimes the DR1 rules interfere with my thinking abilities.. (Don't tell the bosses)

It would be a good thing if out of this disaster can possibly flow more tolerance between the nations.
