Default DR Wedding!

Good Morning!

I am new to this board as of this morning. I got engaged this weekend. We would like to have a destination wedding in the Dominican. Before I start researching, I thought I'd post here. I would love to hear anyone's experiences/tips/places of interest/recommended sites/ absolutely anything you can tell me would be MOST appreciated!

Angie

Default Congratulations!

However the Grammar Police have a bone to pick with your use of the adjective "Dominican" to refer to the nation, which is a noun. So, from now on, please use DR, DOMREP, or Dominican Republic, or Quisqueya!!

That said, what you propose is well documented on the board, so just do a bit of searching.

A lot will depend on where you go: East Coast-> Bavaro, Punta Cana, Cap Cana, La Romana or North Coast-> Puerto Plata, Sosua or Cabarete.

Generally speaking, the hotels can do all of the arranging.

The only negative I have seen around here was one that dealt with a much too long delay in receiving the "official" Wedding Certificate with all the bells and whistles--> that is the offical stamps and seals...

Good Luck.

Hi Angie!
Congratulations to you.
We just did a wedding at the beautiful Hideaway Beach Resort for Diane Neal from "Law and Order" and it was fabulous: the setting, food, music, an old fashion horse and carriage and a gorgoeus cake.
There are so many other places beside the All Inclusive resorts that you can have your wedding and that would cost you by far less , all depepnds what your heart desires.

Best of luck!

Default Congratulations

First of all I want to start out with a harty congratulations to both of you. You've picked a wonderful country for getting married. Before you go, however, make sure that you have all your paperwork in order. It's a little different than getting married her in the United States, but still not a difficult process. I was married here in July to a dominicana and will go there in December for the big family wedding with friends.

A little tip for you...never, and I repeat, NEVER even think of sending any of your items ahead of you....especially through the regular post office! All of you who have been here for a few days and actually read threads, will get a chuckle out of that! Believe me, you don't want to learn the lessons I've already learned for you.

Again, congratulations!
