HELP!! Looks like plans squashed!!
We had a trip planned to Cabarete. Staying at the Ocean's Manor resort. (which by the way is under construction.) Some of you probably have read my messages before.
Well, someone sent me an email when they saw my comments and they too were supposed to be going to Ocean's Manor Resort but not till Mar/06. They were told to seek other places.
So, I was worried and emailed my home resort and asked. Guess what? Now they are saying that maybe I should think of somewhere else, and they are relocating people to Club Fun Tropicale in Playa Dorado, Puerto Plata!! What I could find about that place is not what I was getting at Ocean's Manor. The beach, and ocean front is very important to me! I understand that this particular resort is NOT oceanfront, and from what pictures I have seen of rooms/condo's , not exactly what I had in mind. We have already bought our tickets. I feel so bad , as another couple are coming with us.
Does anyone have any suggestions for nice beach, ocean front condos (2 bedroom needed). All inclusive is not important. We like to experiene eating out. I had done lots of research in the Cabarete area and Sosua, but not necessarily Puerto Plata. Ocean front really is a biggee for us. We spend lots of time sitting on balcony looking at the ocean sipping a caesar or two.
I am so disappointed. It makes me mad that if I had not contacted them, I am not sure what would have happened. At least now I have some time to check some other options out.
Please, any suggestions would be wonderful. A lot of you just have so much info. As part of our membership we are supposed to get similar accomodation as what we purchased. Condo, fully furnished, stereo, tv's, air conditioning, 2 bathrooms, etc.etc.
I will keep checking this forum for any thoughts.
Thanks
Meg

Plans squashed!
Robert, we have flights booked to arrive Jan 8/06 to return Jan 15/08, that is Sunday to Sunday.
Now, because our home resort (Georgian Manor) is affliated with RCI, I would imagine we will have to go to a resort in Dominican that is as well. I was up late last night looking thru our RCI directory and came up with a few resorts that are apparently beach front? (Just going by the book)
I will list them and see if any ring a bell.
Club Sabatini - Sosua
Hideaway Beach - Sosua-Cabarete
Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club at Hacienda Tropical - Playa Cofresi-POP
Ltl-Sol de Plata - Cabarete
Paradise Beach Club and Casino - Playa Dorada - POP
Playa Naco Golf and Tennis - Playa Dorada POP
Punta Goleta Vacation Club - Cabarete
Those are the only ones in RCI book that have beach, where possibly could have ocean front condo. We need a two bedroom, and have already paid for it at Ocean's Manor. Now we do not do all inclusives, so I do know it mentioned that some of the above were mandatory all inclusives. NOt sure if our home resort can make any exceptions in this case. They had already confirmed us!!
Any help at all would be really appreciated.
Thanking you in advance.

LTI Sol de Plata is now Breezes - Puerto Plata and is between Sosua and Cabarete, closer to Sosua.

Hey Fireguy.
What is your opinion of LTI or Breezes Puerto Plata. What is around it, etc.
Wonder if it is all inclusive, as I really prefer not to take that route.
Do you happen to know anything of Club Fun Tropicale in Puerto Plata? That is where our home resort mentioned sending us, but I know it is not on a beach per say, and I think the kitchen facilities are limited???
Would be interested in hearing a little on Breezes if you know.
Thanks a bunch!

Breezes is an AI. http://www.dr1.com/directories/hotel...to_plata.shtml
Fun Royale is an AI.

The best on your list is Hideaway Beach, it's not an AI.
It's small, very well kept and on a beautiful piece of beach.
I believe earlier this year, one of the cast members of L.A. Law was married at this resort.

Paradise Beach Club and Casino - Playa Dorada - POP
|
Paradise is a solid *** resort in Playa Dorada complex. It has oceanfront 2 bedroom units with kitchenette.. Although the resort is an AI, I know that some of it's original members were exempt from taking the AI package. In fact I know of a group who comes for 2 months every winter and certainly don't take the AI. Pressure you're home resort to get you in without the AI. These people run a room tab for any meals or drinks they do consume during their stay. It may be possible even if the bood say AI mandatory.

Howmar, will check this place out, however,,,,do you know if it is affliated with RCI. I assume that I will be put somewhere that the resort has an affliation with RCI. If I cannot get where I want to be, I would hope they would consider a refund of our monies paid, but I find that very unlikely. REally sort of "sore" about the entire situation.
In some cases, it's called "common courtesy" to let a body know when their entire vacation plans have changed at the drop of a pin.
Oh well, have to hope for the best. I will definitely take a look at the one you mentioned.
Thank you.
