Default Travel Directions

I am going to travel from the Las Americas Airport to Bayahibe (Viva Wyndham Beach) and the directions I get says I have to drive to Higuey and then go south. Is that accurate? Or is there a road that takes me south after La Romana?

Any info would be appreciated.

NY1, the instructions are not accurate.

Higuey is not a factor in this routing, other than a place you will end up if you take a wrong turn. From Las Americas airport at Santo Domingo you will go to La Romana and continue past La Romana following the road signs to La Roman airport. You will continue east on the road as it contnues past the airport. Once you are beyond the airport the road will direct you across the Chavon river gorge and continue on for about 3-4 km and you will approach an intersection as the road splits in two directions with an island at its center. The signs at this intersection will inform you to bear to the right to go to Bayahibe and eventually the Wyndham. If you bear to the left the road eventually brings you to Higuey.

The travel time from Las Americas to Bayahibe will be about 2 - 3 hours.

Regards,
PJT

The directions are 100% correct, but the driving time is closer to 2 hours, I drive that road from the airport to LaRomana regularly at an average speed of about 55 miles per, takes an hour to an hour and 15 min. at worst to LaRomana, than allow 30 to 45 min more to reach Bayahibe.

I just thought back a number of years to my first driving experience here, so now, factor in the FEAR factor of driving here for the first time, and your absolutely right about the 3 hours.

Sorry about this useless post, we tend to forget that many of us now drive like the Dominicans do

Thanks for the info. I knew those directions that were given on that site were wrong. I have driven many times to San Pedro and once to La Romana, but have not driven further east, but I knew Higuey was well out of the way.

Once again, Thanks!!
