I apologize in advance for putting this in the Spanish forum. My half-witt reasoning is that you can't learn language well if you don't get to learn the context, or culture.
So...please feel free to move this to another forum (general?).
So...I have come across an ad for what looks to be a helpful book, "Caribbean Connections: The Dominican Republic."
(NO.NO.NO. -- IT IS NOT ABOUT
LOVE CONNECTIONS!)
The publisher has the folowing positive commentary:
"Caribbean connections: The Dominican Republic is the ideal text for student or book groups reading literature by Dominican authors, communties with Dominican students, and everyone interested in this Caribbean country which has a long history of U.S. involvement. A Spanish language companion is available.
It is the latest in the series on teaching about the Caribbean published by Teaching for Change. The five other titles are
Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Moving North and Overview of Regional History."
English edition $16, Spanish edition $17, Set $20

So, have any of you read this book or heard of it? I assume it is very liberal/lefty.
(I am now wondering if there are any book clubs on dr1? It could be fun to read the same book and chat about it. I would bet that the foks living locally would have great insights to add....just a thought.)
Sorry for perhaps posting in the wrong place, Suenos
