La Carnavale-SI o NO??

I was just wondering for those of you that are living in the DR-particularly in the Puerto Plata area is it true that La Carnavale in Feb could be cancelled. I have heard that due to repairs to the Malecon that this event could be cancelled. Any info on this matter would be greatly appreciated!!

They're working round the clock and the sidewalks of interlocking red blocks look great! I feel sure that the Malecon will be finished in time!! Canadian Bob.
