Default Whale watch

We will be making our first trip to DR Feb.21. We are going to Punta Cana. Can anyone tell me anything about the whale watches that I have heard about?

Welcome Boatman

For whale watching you need to make your way up to Samana which is at the east end of the north coast. I am not sure about transfer times from Punta Cana - when I went I booked onto a tour through my hotel which was in Puerto Plata on the north coast.

There will no doubt be similar tours on sale from your hotel (if you are staying in an AI?) however I have heard good reports on whale watching from other DR1 members who have used Kim's tours - have a look at this website for some more info:

Also - try doing a search on whale watching using the search function above - you will find lots of useful information here.

Enjoy your trip

TakeOffWeb in Punta Cana Plaza Brisas de Bávaro # 08, Bávaro, Dom. Rep.
Tel: (1)809-552-1333, Fax: (1)809-552-1113 Cel: (1)809-481-0707, Cel: (1)809-710-4663, offer whale watching excursions to Samana. ($219US/person)
http://takeoffweb.com/_wsn/page6.html

They fly you from Punta Cana Airport to Arroyo Barril airport near Santa Barbara de Samana and bus to the port of Samana. Whale watching for a couple of hours, lunch at Cayo Levantado (Bacardi Island) and the back to Punta Cana, with a stop in Samana for souvenir shopping at CEBSE.

If you are a adventurer, can be done on your own, but will probly cost the same and with a lot of unknowns.

Some links to Whale Watching here: http://www.samana.net/attractions-en6.html
