Wink Here Now!

Hi All,

We arrived yesterday............

Having a great time so far. Booked into the junior royal suite its very spacious and had no probs with the plumbing or hot water. Although, a couple we have met had problems with a leak from their ceiling! Had to be transfered to a standard room for the evening before being moved to another room back in royal area!
Adult only area very good indeed and Miguel on the pool bar is excellent..... ask for a Banana Mamma!!! Fabulous!!!
Weather so far quite dull and had alot of rain. Weather humid. Miguel promises sunnier weather tomorrow....we shall see!!!

Ciao for now xx

Default upgrade???????

Hi there,

we are booked into a Family Room at the end of April. Spoke to First ( last ) Choice today regarding upgrading to the adult only, but all rooms are fully booked allegedly. Apparently we had already been upgraded to a family room, from a standard. We have no kids, no need for bunkbeds, playstation 2, separate kids room etc, so asked to be moved, and to give a family the opportunity to use the room, more money for "Last Choice" you would have thought, but no can do.

Does anyone know if we can upgrade at the resort to Adult only ( for the benefits ), but remain in the family accomodation that we don't need. Planner I presume could find out, but has anyone there at the moment tried to upgrade?

No offence to the families that are / will be staying there but the Adult only benefits seem to outweigh any advantages of staying in the family rooms, especially when you have no rug rats of your own.

.............Caz

hi caz,
i would ask first choice to put you on a reserve list if poss, if not just keep checking the web site to see if any show then give them a ring.
i know what you mean about the upgraded rooms they sound really nice but since we are taking our little monsters we had no choice its a family room for us.

I've been here pretty much all of my life - except for a 4 year jaunt down the road......to Barrhaven.

I had emailed our travel agent about the problems etc - I received a reply from a Signature rep - she says 3 of her collegues are going down to HVGB next weekend - I can hardly wait to hear their reviews. (although Ron - I'm sure yours will be more true to story when you get back).

Thanks for the Monster Truck info today!

Default List of answers

Hi again everyone. I will string together a list of answers for you all.

1. NO you cannot upgrade at the hotel. They are NOT allowing this at all.

2. ATM - only dispenses pesos. You WILL pay a fee at your end for the withdrawal but it is easily offset by the wonderful exchange rate you will get. When keying in the withdrawal amount - remember it is about 28 pesos to a Canadian dollar - don't withdraw 100 and think you will get the equivalent in pesos. YOu will have to withdraw 2,800 pesos to equal about 100 Cdn. The maximum you will most likely be able to withdraw is 10,000 pesos about $350 cdn.

Remember you can buy your excursions using a credit card. Save the cash.

3. Disco - the disco called Mangu is not the hotel disco. It is open to the public and thus your teenagers will be required to supply ID if asked regardless of the colour of their bracelet. For those who care Mangu is the favourite spot at Playa Dorada.

4. Internet is not free. THey only have 4 machines available. If you want more information on wireless internet availability - well they dont' have it, I am working with a company installing it in hotels and they are on my list! IF you want to help me - ask the manager why they don't have wireless! (shameless plug for me.....LOL)

5. They only have Presidente. Drink it you will like it.......

6. Yes they have rye, scotch etc etc.

7. Coffee - I don't understand anyone who needs to bring Timmy's coffee to this country. The coffee here is amazing, try it folks.

8. BOOKS - books are very hard to get down here. When you are done with your books - let me know. I would love to put them into circulation down here in the ex pat community. Many of us exchange books regularly.

Well folks the last two days work has interfered in me staying on top of things here. If I missed anything just ask me again.

I look forward to meeting each and every person who has expressed an interest in meeting. Thanks to everyone who remembers the kids and brings down supplies. You are awesome!!!

Awesome, I love to read and easily go thru 3 books a week - even when I am reading and answering this thread......LOL

Seriously, books you bring down to read - when you are done I would gladly accept them. Don't take up school supplies room with books for me........ I dont' need them near as much as the kids need supplies.
