The night tour is a fabulous buffet dinner, sea lion and dolphin shows, good dance show and casino. I enjoyed the entire evening.
Thanks for the answer but I wanted to book on line in the UK before I stay at the HV in May next year. i would hate for all the places to get booked up.

Thanks

Seems someone wasn't impressed with the place...

Not sure who this is or how he got his info, but I wonder if there's anything to it.

Like I told this guy on Debbie's let the people tell their own stories, he saw something from the beach the rest is heresay, there is no need to start rumours with zero back up.
You link also has been removed.

We will let those who were there have their say.

Just FYI, I'm leaving for the resort in question in 11 days, and am very interested in what people have to say about it. I'm not trying to stir up trouble.

Just my opinion but your removing this link is a little heavy-handed.

Hey Everyone,

Boy I haven't used this fourm in almost 3 years now . We are finally going back to DR. Last year we went to Cuba and really missed the DR lifestyle.

So the reason for my post is to say "thank you" to planner for helping everyone understand what the Holiday Village will look like, plus answering almost every question. It takes alot of time, but we all (even those that are lurking on the boards) really appricate it.

I have a question though . Will the Holiday Village supply bottled water in the rooms ? if not, will they give you bottled water at any time when asked? I am concerned that there is no fridge in the room, which is making nervious that we won't have access to bottled water. Other resorts gave you a big bottle per day. This was great because you took it to the beach during the day. Ah well if this could be answered, that would be awesome.

Second Question: The message a few lines up was deleted by Wudd, I suppose he/she is a mod and keeping the fourms clean (for that I appricate ), but it would be nice to hear something about this hotel, even if it is just hear say. We go on Jan 18th.

Having all the info both good and bad is half the fun of getting down there and seeing for yourself. I do read all the negitive stuff about places, but that wouldn't stop me from going. There are people that always complain no matter what, so most comments you take with a grain of salt.

After all, you are on vacation - chill. Have your drinks, lie on the beach, spend time with your family. Thats what it is all about.

Im done ramblimg Please let me know about the bottled water situation. Thanks a ton.

Me Again,

I have another question. Last time we went to DR we went on the Monster Truck Safari. Awesome expirence.

Question: Is there another excursion that provides a similar expirence? Meaning going into a DR community and seeing how they live ?

One more thing. When we went there was a tour company that was offering 2 for 1 tickets to go on any excursions. It is tough to swallow paying almost $200 CDN for a days adventure. Is there some way to get a deal if you ask the right person?

Thanks in advance,

OttawaSens.

Hello Ottawa. I am in the dark as well about refridgerators or bottle water, but as far as tours,i'm not sure if the monster truck tour is the same as the outback tour, but if it different the outback is a good one. Also there are many out of resort tour operators that offer alot better pricing. If you go to Sosua for a visit your first stop is Checkpoint (Canadian Bar), the couple that run the bar have lots of reliable connections. Also there is a tour operator right beside the bar, german operators i believe. Hope that helps a bit.

Planner, thanks for all the information/updates on the renovations at HV. I will be there Dec 14-22. It has been 19 years since my last visit to DR. I stayed at the Villas Doradas in 1988. Is there anyone else staying at HV between Dec 14-22?

Default Water

Jack Tar always had a 5 gallon dispenser of purified water in the hallway outside each four room complex. My guess is that they are still using the same method.

Anyone have an email for this Canadian Bar? What kind of pricing have people seen with regards to the tours? On the Monster Safari website they state $85US per person. Last time we went it cost $75 US for 2 people. This is the price we are looking to get to.

If anyone has contacts with email addy please pass them along .

As for the water. If in fact they are still using the 5 gallon water in the hallways, do they supply something to hold the water in, or should we bring our own empty bottles?

Thanks again,

OttSens.
