a little out of the way but by far the best snorkeling we've found and it's real dominicana!

Again not directly answering the question, but I've found great snorkeling from the hotel beach in Bayahibe (http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/279730537QeaRsf) as well as by excursion in the area (http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/550135582VbyNRT). Haven't snorkeled elsewhere on the island so can't compare.
