Samana Airport? PC to PoP?

Two questions, firstly, is Samana Airport fully functioning now? If so, does anyone know of any flights from the UK to Samana, as I can't find any listed.

Secondly, does anyone know if flights from Punta Cana to Puerto Plata are regular on Christmas Day & New Years Day? I can not find any flights from the UK on the 25th-27th to PoP, returning 1st-3rd, either Manchester or Gatwick. There was a Thomson flight showing for 25th-1st but it was over £1000, flight only! And even if I suddenly struck it rich, it's not showing today. There is a £500 flight to PC though. Still expensive, and with an internal flight added, probably too expensive to bother with. If it comes down a bit, it might be okay. (final destination Cabarete).

Any other thoughts re how to get there without the bank manager shouting at me?

Yes, it is as far as flight operations are concerned.
Other facilities (restaurant, car rentals, etc.) are not open yet.
