Punta Cana to the Samana ferry info

No place to stay at Samana De La Mar (Where the Samana ferry docks) so through losts of research...we are staying Punta Cana(all inclusive $91 per night for two-Tropical Alisios Bavaro) and then taking a private taxi ($150 U.S. -one way) to the ferry site. We then take the ferry for $2.50 U.S. to Samana. For those that go this way-it seems like it would be way easier to fly in to Puerto Plata if you could...

What do you want to do? Where do you land? What you are doing makes no sense. There are many flights from Punta Cana to Samana that would have cost you no more than US$200 for the two of you.

There are actually some local hotels in Sabana de la Mar, although usually the bookings are done in person once you get there, they are sleep only accommodations. Make sure to head up to Sabana de la Mar early from Punta Cana as you would not want to miss the last ferry of the day to Samana. Be prepared, it is a long bumpy ride to Sabana de la Mar.
