Santiago to Santo Domingo, takes roughly 2 hours.
Less in a fast car, more in a "stop everywhere" guagua.
There are of course, express busses, such as Caribe Tours.

You can travel from Santiago to Santo Domingo. We even have telephones, faxes, and other modern conveniences!

Metro and Caribe Tours provide fast, efficient service for around RD$500 pesos round trip. Take a light jacket, it's cold on the buses.

you can leave at 6 in the morning and return at 11 p.m. (Last buses leave around 9 p.m. from Santo Domingo, I think!

Travel time-station to station-- is alittle less than two hours during early and late hours, a bit more than two hours during peak traffic hours...

I must have been on a slow moving Caribe Tour Bus. It took me over 3 hours!
