Default Puerto Plata to western Canada

Does anyone know if you can get a one way ticket from Puerto Plata to anywhere is western Canada this time of year. We are running into a lot of snags! First "they" say there are no one way tickets available, then there is nothing to western Canada until November. My husband should be flying here this weekend and I am wondering if anyone can give us soem advice.

are you calling the local offices to see about empty seats on the return flights?

if you call the tour operators directly they will say there are no seats but if you call the local office they can tell what is available for the return trips...

ex. the flights arrive on saturdays & by monday they have a list of availability & you can book a one way home if there are any seats.

im not too sure about western canada but definitely you should be able to find something to toronto.

i can find the numbers for air transat & signature if you need them.

He might have to take a flight to Toronto and then take another flight to your Province. That is how some of the others have done it or pay a more expensive flight with Air Canada.

Hi there, I live in Vancouver BC. Since I'm leaving on saturday for punta cana I can tell you there are no charter flights between the DR and western Canada this time of year. We are connecting in Toronto.
Air Canada may be an option to check out , but you will definately have to connect somewhere, whether it be through the USA or through eastern canada.

We have been checking everywhere. He cannot fly air canada as they stop in the USA not an option as his landing immigration papers say Canada. No charters will fly an immigrant for their first flight. Our option is Air transit my husband spend the majority of the day talking with them all flights to Toronto are booked for the next 2 weeks, they can get him to Montreal but that is the closest. his flight is about 500 and another 600 to get to Saskatchewan. Add aboutanother 1200 if I want to meet him in Montreal. I had thought maybe Edmonton but no more flights by Air Transit unitl November and I can guarantee I am not waiting unitl Nov.

Default Punta Cana?

Hi Mart,

I know that Punta Cana is quite a distance for your husband from Puerto Plata, but there are one-way flights from Punta Cana to Western Canada for this time of year through Air Canada. One I looked at was $513 plus tax leaving July 5--Punta Cana to Edmonton.

Good Luck!

I don't understand.
Air Transat is a charter airline, so if the charters won't fly an immigrant on his/her first flight, why are you trying to fly with them?
Did I miss something?

AFAIK there are no AC flights with US stops.

Here are some scheduled, non-stop examples:

AC1837 - PUJ to YUL
AC1843 - PUJ to YYZ
AC1847 - PUJ to YYZ
AC1809 - POP to YUL

In addition there are seasonal (winter only) "charter" flights from a variety of Canadian cities. This time of year you have to connect through YUL or YYZ.

Sorry for the confusion. I was told to look at Air Transat as it was not a charter. This is all new, when I wasnt to fly somewhere from Canada I call a travel agent and buy a ticket, this is becoming a little more confusing. I am sure it would be a bit easier during the winter months to find a flight, but might be a little harder on my husband
