It depends what part of DR you are going to be in. When I went - I didn't take malaria medication or anything like that. It depends how close you are going to be to Honduras and stuff like that. ARe you going to be in the city most of the time?

as far as Typhoid I recommend checking out who needs a typhoid vaccination here...I found this site helpful.

Regarding Mosquito's,,, Stop eating banana's 17 days before you arrive and don't eat any during your stay...
