Default Airfare

Anyone know why airfare is more than twice as expensive flying from the DR as opposed to flying to the DR. Just checked several airlines and can get a flight from US to DR for $175.00. From the DR to US the return flight is over $400. These are one way tickets. Also a direct RT flight from PHL to Santo Domingo is $488.00. A RT flight from Syracuse NY to Santo Domingo, via PHL on the exact same direct flight, is $478.00. How can it be $10 less to add on the extra leg for the Syracuse flight? Strange.

Yep, exactly...it is about $75 - $100 USD once they've added up all their different departure fees and taxes.

yeah...many airlines advertise low rates around 200 rt. and then it gets to be around 400 after fees and taxes.

here is a trick i have learned. If you are flexible with your dates...wait until about 9 or ten PM the night before you are going to travel. First look on-line then call the airlne directly. I have gotten fares for about 200 (taxes fees included). The only problem is is this a not a guarantee....and you have to be packed and ready to go in a blink!

even if you dont book...try looking at rates around 9 or ten PM on a wednesday...and look at the rates for the next day.
