Default Playa Rincon by ordinary car

Hello !!

I am currently working in Santo Domingo on a project, but on Sunday myself and my colleague have time to visit Samama and hopefully Playa Rincon.

I have read in this forum that we need a SUV to drive all the way to the beach as the last kilometre is really bad.

Is it possible to drive almost to Playa Rincon and then park the car and walk the last kilometre ? Has anyone done that ?

We know we can take a boat from Las Galeras, but it would give us more freedom it we could drive almost to the beach ourselves.

Hi There,
The road to playa ricon is horrible even in a SUV...seriously...re-consider taking the boat...much less stressful. It will also give you more time to enjoy the beach instead of recovering from the craters you drove over to get to the beach..ENJOY!

Definately dont attempt it in a regular car!

The road is narrow so to answer your question....it waont be possible to park your vehicle and walk the last kilometre.

If you are set on driving, I would rent an appropriate vehicle for this terrain. We went after there had been a lot of rain in that area and it was a challenge for sure...but very worthwhile and not to be missed.

Enjoy

I have gone to Playa Rincon, right up to the beach, in one of those little economical rental cars (the white egg-looking ones). The trip was looong and the road bad (FULL of holes, you have to go really slow). So is it possible? Technically, yes. Is it fun, easy or comfortable? NO WAY. I wish that we would have taken a boat. If I had to use my own car to get there, I wouldn't do it because of all the wear and tear, and who knows what could break on it.

Default Don't do it by car!!!

I did it by SUV and it was horrible, took so long that when we finally got to playa rincon I almost was not able to enjoy how virgin and gorgeous this beach is!!! I swore to myself the next time I would go by boat!
