Default loved Casa Del Mar

Thank you Cheap Carribean!!! Sunscape Casa del Mar in the Dominican Republic was a paradise, I want to go back again. Our family of 12 (ages 16 – 63) all voted it the best place in years. The trip from the Santo Domingo airport was a little long but I loved to view the many shades of green landscape and villages. No matter what kind of homes, all the kids had top of the line baseball uniforms (Sammy Sousa?). Everyone was excellent at the resort and best of all – no wrist bands!!! The rooms were actually well air conditioned. I have asthma and it was perfect for me. Free room service was the best luxury of all and they’ll even bring things not on the menu. Try to brush up on your Spanish, they really seem to appreciate the respect. I think I’m getting better at it every year.

Some things were cheaper while others were more expensive than at other resorts. There’s some small shops on the other side of the boat area and some great prices if you’re ready to bargain. If it’s not the price you want, thank them, walk away, and check the next shop. People from town with great selections and prices set up their tables by the pool a few times a week. The food everywhere was great but the desserts at the buffet were the best. The beach party was quite elegant with tables and white table cloths.

Everything was wonderful except for our trip to the Santana Casino (Cotursa Hotels & Resorts). In our opinion Santana is a scam, cheats you on the exchange rate and payouts and runs an unbelievable “Kino” scam. They call it Kino, but I’ve been gambling for 30 years and it’s nothing like I’ve ever seen. The Casinos aren’t regulated there and can run whatever scam they like so stay away from them. I’d even recommend not going to a resort with their own Casino.

DEFINITELY go to the jewelry shop at the resort, there are long loops of beads ($10 - $12) on the wall that you can twist and connect with one their clasps ($3). I suggest you look at their assortment of clasps and get two. I also suggest you buy a clear or white loop of beads to mix with all of the other colors you buy.

I already miss the beach, the clear blue water, the spacious rooms and the time I was able to spend with my family!!!!!!
