Default just got back from the long weekend trip

and I would like to say even though it was dismal weather wise, the DR people stepped up to make things better....no problems coming into santiago, but my rerserved car wasnt there...(it was on the way) . It was savings car rental at the airport. I rented from them on the last trip and they worked hard to make thing better when I had problems with the car. So i went with them again, but I wanted the biggest car I could rent, so I had to wait. they said they would drive it to me in Moca when it got there. So the guy calls and we eventually arrainge to meet. So I meet the guy and he has a realtive or family friend with him. A woman and she is also as nice as can be...we go over the car and exchange phone numbers in case we would like to hook up on a lter date for dancing or the beach or whatever...well i go to fill up at a brand new texaco in Licey. A huge place that i saw was being built on my last trip. The guy come over and talks to me. He has lived in new york and speak good english. well the car stalls, and then I cant get it started again....so i call the guy who dropped it off , who was on his way back to puerto plata, and he turns around and comes back. Mean while I am invited into the guys office and we talk shop and buisness and DR -NY stuff until the other guys arrives...really really great guy....Well Humberto( the car rental guy) finally gets the news out of one of the workers that they fill the Monterro up with diesel instead of gas!!!!!! even though the tank door says UNLEADED FUEL ONLY..alebieth in english.....soooooooooo they psuh the car around back where they have a ton of car wash bays and small outdoor resturaunt and a plash to change oil.... they pump out the pits where they WOULD do oil changes, because they arent even finnished buildning the place!...because it must have rained recently like crazy... then they undo the gas lines and drain the fuel system!!! 25 gallons!!!!!!!!!! then they push it back and fill her up with gas. All the while Umberto is tending to what they are doing, with no complaints while me and his friend and my girlfriend talk about everything possible.........so its funny in the end... and I have three new good friends in the dr. The gas station owner offered for me to stay at his place if i wanted...I said i am fine I am staying at my girlfriends parents house. We eventually hooked up with Umberto in PP and he found us the Playa Dorado hotel Gran Ventana to stay in for the night after a day at Sosua. Then we hooked up with him later at the Mangu bar in jack tar village and then went into PP to another merenge disco on the main drag...until 4:30 am....did a lot of dancing. He told me about a few places in santiago as well aand we went to one sunday night. Although I hadnt know the name, it was a place I had been to before....the room was nice at the gran ventana, thats all I can say because it rained very hard that night and into the morning and so with waking up late and then just eating, we didnt see much of the grounds....the guys that worked there were really great as well. I didnt hear one negative remark about my girl being with an american... Although I did on Sosua. Walking the walk in fron of all the stores, tension must have been high with the poor weather, because way down at the end one guy asked if I would look into his store, and i mention no gracias, and he came out with. SO just on with your F*&^ing walking"....I had to ask him to show how they F*&%$ing walked in the dr for me..just alittle so I can learn...and he clammed up nicely. then down at the other end before we got back to the car..I was carring my girl on my back for fun and a guy says something as we walk past i his place, after i smiled and said hello..when my girl reacts badly with an "I-YI YI" remark I turn around and walk back to him and say "QUE???? he truns white as a ghost and starts double yapping and walking back into his store. Well my girl starts laughing like crazy....she tells me was so sorry and not to hurt him, and he was just joking...even though I never understood what he said in the first place!!!!!!!!next trip Nov 18th cant wait.......bob
