A couple of friends and I are going to the DR for our first trip at the end of next month. Your pictures are amazing and have shown me we definitely made a good choice in destinations. Thank you for showing me the absolute beauty of the place and the people!!

Yes, we have the media gallery, but I'm thinking something more prominent and something exclusive for great photos and photographers.

If you have any ideas, please send me a PM or email me: robert@dr1.com
Why not an ebook?

It will be good for some organization receiving the profits or part of the profits, the customers eyes, the photographer's work getting merit, etc. It sounds good all the way.

BTW, OP, those were some excellent photographs. Some people here have the potential to become freelance photographers and who knows, maybe fate has something nice in store for you.

Your photos of the waterfalls in Jarabacoa came out really nice-I remember looking back on why mine sucked-I had the camera on manual focus instead of auto(at the time I did not know my camera too well) and of course who's going to get a good shot walking on those suspension bridges with them shaking so much? I should have stood on steady ground. Next time I know better.

By the way, what equipment do you use? If you don't want to reveal on the forum send me a PM.

You have given me some great ideas for capturing dominican life. I will go on my next trip with renewed enthusiasm for this hobby.

Thumbs up Beautiful!!

Wow, thankyou so much for sharing your lovely pictures with us! I, like Berzin, would love to know what type of camera/lens you use - my digital camera photos look like disposables compared to yours!

I return to the DR in 2 weeks for my friend's wedding and I am longing for the island and it's people. Your photos have given me a little taste of what is to come, and it has helped to subside my anxiety...now my 2 week wait does not seem like long at all!!

Fantastic photos !!!!

Thank you for sharing. Brings back a lot of memories for me. I can just feel the sunshine in "puppies and a chair" - guess it's my fave.

DRO,

Well done. I am sure many of us now have been inspired by your photos to see if we can do half as well as you have.

Feel free to email me at miamihiphop@gmail.com for any questions, comments or any photography advice, and I will happily write you back.

But all in all, I use a Canon 20D...which is a digital SLR camera. It costs about $1500 (USD) without a lens.

Its not the best camera in the world but it gets the job done. Very cost effective and great in quality. And as far as lenses, I use about 4 lenses. In every situation its a little different due to subject matter and availability of light. So I use a different lens for different types of situations. But zoom lenses from like 24-85 in focal length are probably what i stay consistantly with because you prepare yourself to NEVER miss a shot, no matter how near or far.

Pero, thanks for the compliments guys. I am going back to DomRep in a few months for an even longer stay and I will have more pictures for you all to see. And also, i am going to italy in like 3 weeks so I will post a link to those pictures in this same thread, or if you want me to email you a link to my Italy & future DomRep pictures, email me your email address to miamihiphop@gmail.com.

Again, thanks for the comments and compliments

- David
