went to camp david
actually went three times! First time during the day to make sure I would not get lost!... made a bunch or wrong turns( too early)(wrong gas stations).
then when we found the right texaco gas station, they had the road behind it all tore up with construction!. Couldnt get through. so up the road we went to the road you would NORMALLY take!! NARROW AT FIRST! then they JUST finnished some work on the bridge over that creek, and we made it past there.
Then when we said hello to two guys at the entrance to go up the hill, they wanted to sell us some water turtles. Similar to painted turtles here. But alas we dont have a pound at the house ( other than the pig water bin ha ha)
any way up up up and up some more. Found the place and had a drink. Came back later that night for dinner. Started outside then my GF had to move inside because of the chill. nice views! I had the lobster... and was suprised to see the whole lobster cut in half and grilled!! but the tail meat was huge! and really good! They didnt have any of the steak my GF wanted! It was ok...bill came to about 2700 pesos.
went the next night with my GF and her parents...much better night...clearer, with stars in the sky! the bill that night was about the same!!!!!! even though there were 2 more people!..no deserts !!!I guess!
I had chiken parmegsian(sp)...it wasnt that good!!!
oh the first night it took 1.5 hours for the food to come out!!!!!!!!! I was 5 minutes from walking out!
the second night I complained.. the guy said no problem, it will be out in and hour and 15 minutes this time! ha haha
at least he had a sense of humor! it only took 45 minutes that night!
Over all I like the atmosphere!

Wow, 1.5 hours.. That's a lot ! I can see that you are very patient.
Reminds me of the time I went to a Peruvian restaurant in Buenos Aires and my food came about after 2.5 hours. I ordered rice with fried fish (that's all). After asking a few times where my food was, I had already stopped after the first 45 minutes, and even though I was so hungry, but since I was in a big group of people I didn't walk out but had lots of drinks instead. Just having fun/talking with this group kinda offset my temper/patience.

Hey Bob, it sounds like you, your GF and her parents had a very good time!
Like ElvisNYC has said, you are very patient. ElvisNYC, it sounds like you are very patient as well!
It does get a little chilly up in Camp David so make sure you bring a jacket as back up.

We went there about five years ago - got there pretty late to start with, for various reasons, and had to wait about that length of time for the food. Apart from that it was really good.

We´ve been there frequently and there is always a longer wait for the food. You´re supposed to sit back and relax and enjoy and chat and have social interaction On the timing, it must have something to do with the height above sealevel We're not used to that here in the DR and so we all move a little slower in the thinner air.. The last time we were there with delightful company, the end of the evening came all too soon!

I'm not that patient, sometimes my NY attitude/impatience comes out but in that case I was having fun with my friends and drinking, so I let it go..
Other times, I will sit down at a restaurant and if they don't come over within 3-5 minutes with a menu or say hello, I leave !

I see.
One time, I was sitting in a restaurant in Santiago. I forgot the name of it.
The name was "La Something-Something".
It was an outdoor restaurant right across the street from the Plaza International Mall.
Anyway, this is also a nice restaurant with very good food. But the food takes quite a long time to arrive at one's table.
One waiter there speaks okay English. So he says to me,
Waiter: "Are you from China?"
Me: "No."
Waiter: "Japan?"
Me: "No."
Waiter: "Thailand?"
Me: "No."
Waiter: "Korea?"
Me: "Si. "
Waiter: "North or South?"
Me: "South and one more Coke please?"

a lot of times restaurants delay bringing food so that you order more drinks and more drinks.. they make a lot of money on that.
if i observe restaurant is not full and food is taking long time to come out, then i can smell their tactic and thus would not more order drinks; it's not being cheap; to me it's not letting take advantage of you. If i see the restaurant packed then i can understand... but if not, then i'll just make long conversations and take my time with my drinks.
i went to camp david once, food took reazonable time to come out.
Food was ok, just regular/ok, the view is the only nice thing about camp david. And at night you can't really take pics at the view.
