Default A1 in POP

I just got back to the states after a week in the DR. I live there, in the northwest frontier, but have been away for 6 months. Since my absence had to do with health, I though it better if my visit was at an A1 were I would have ac and deferent food then in the "bush". I booked for 5 days; my girl came to meet me (that was the reason for the visit), but left after 3 days. It was no better than a motel 6 and my GF could not eat the food, she was getting pretty hungry. She has a hard time with Gringo food anyway; I tried to tell her that this was not Gringo food. Besides all that, it was pretty boring, and had about 25% occupancy.
They still want to charge me for 5 days, but I am contesting the charge on my card. Oh! This all took place at the Caribbean Village Playa Dorado, booked through hotels.com.

in my opinion the Playa Dorado complex is very overrated. it is without a doubt a "tourist trap"..i don't want to get off track in this thread but i have noticed that many DR women don't like gringo food ? why is that ? where do you take a dominican woman out to dinner at ?

no offense kyle, but when you are used to eating good tasting dominican/latin food, gringo food is just bland.

on a serious note, you have to take into consideration that most dominicans have never been exposed to different cultures or their foods. they are very set in their ways and it's sometimes hard to change that. often time, they are intimidated by new things and it becomes difficult to get the to venture out of the box.

Imagine if you had never tasted mexican, greek, chinesse or Italian food EVER in YOUR LIFE and all of a sudden someone wanted you to eat it all the time - you probably wouln't like it. i get crazy looks all the time when i want to venture off into baked ziti land, and not to mention sushi world, - they think i'm nuts!
