Question Just one question Betty?

What was the difference in price you paid for Breezes DR. and Breezes Bahamas?

The answer could be here.

$44 a night difference but we BOOKED and PAID for OceanFRONT in Nassau

You can get the same price we paid in DR in Nassau on certain dates as well - sometimes even lower. DR prices also go higher as well - I have seen them as high as $139 per night and that IS NOT Ocean front pricing.

DR $109 NAS $153

Betty what a trip.... literally.

I have an suggestion since it sounds like you organize quite a group when you travel.

Why don't you look in to renting a luxury villa for the group?

By my calculations (if the last post referring to figures are correct and per person) here are the numbers:

Breezes: 22 x 109 = $2398 a night / or / if per room 11 x 109 = $1199 a night

That's either-----) $16,786 per week / or / $8393.00 per week

Break down for a luxury villa: 15 bedrooms / ocean front

Per week: $8000.00
Staff: $500.00 (Cook and maid for entire stay)
Driver: $500.00 (driver for a week with van)
Food/drink $3000.00 (this is a very high number)
=======
Total: $12,000.00

Just a thought as you'd have personalized service and a beautiful villa to yourself for a week.

Jackie -
Thanks for that information and that is a thought to look into for our next DR trip.

Our price was 109 PP per night. Are there villas that can be rented for 20 or more people at once? Where are these located and how far in advance would you have to reserve them?

$3000 for food and drink for 30 people for the week seems rather LOW to me as I have a few guys that polished off quite a few bottles of Johnny Walker on our last trip

When you say cook included - is that food? Or do you buy food and bring back for cook to make for you??? thanks for the help and all the details you provided and can provide would be great.
I like the idea!!

Sanfran - I thankfully had plenty of time to relax and enjoy my vacation. The big part of bringing along 22 is the planning ahead of time..rooms, and helping people find the excursions they want to do. I am not a TA, but it seems everytime we travel our group asks me all the questions...and all I can say is THANK GOODNESS for all the forums - or I too would have been LOST.
Once we were there everyone did there own thing besides when we all did the day trip with Isaira.

Loved the DR and will be going back in 2009.

Right now stressing out trying to figure where we will go next year.

Loved the long review. I thought it was very fair.

Any Breezes I've ever checked out was horribly Expensive. I think there's one in Turks and Caicos and it would have cost me over $5000 for one week - I DONT THINK SO.

Back to YOUR report. I could live with mediocre food, but the issues you had with the hotel are the same ones I've had at various hotels (not all the same issues at the same hotel), but in your case, for YOUR reasons, I would never pick Breezes.

We must remember that a food health code may be nonexistent in many countries. It SO annoys me, but saying something doesnt seem to work - anyplace. I solve part of that problem by eating my meals EARLY - before the food has a chance to "sit" (that is, at the Breakfast buffet, lunch buffet - I usually dont do the buffet for dinner unless there's a theme night I like.

It TOTALLY . . . well I dont know what word to use . . . so "gets me mad", when I put out the sign "please clean this room early", and at 3pm it STILL isnt clean.

When I go to Sunscape Casa Del Mar on April 14 - I am going to leave a note for the maid (in Spanish) to please clean the room early every day if possible.

I agree that in DR and also in Mexico, the PEOPLE are the best part of my stay at any resort.
