Sounds great.
Maria's doing quite well and the house is progressing.
I'll try to get out there in the next week or two to update pix of the construction.
I forgot the kid's ages, but will ask her tomorrow and post them.
She'll be thankful for anything and everything.
She's a real trooper and has kind of blossomed from what happened.
I know it sounds weird, but she's so blown away from all the help she's been getting, and she can actually see the house "growing" in front of her eyes, and it's like a dream come true for her.
Thank you all.
Hopefully it doesnt become too much of a habit for your employees to get their houses burnt.
Round trip ticket....$384......Six days at "The Palms"......$250......helping a family in need.....PRICELESS. It was great meeting you Marco and thank you for an "eye-opening" experience. The smiles on those kids faces will be etched in my mind forever.

Hey Tommy.
Great meeting y'all too.
Like you said, the smiles on their faces are simply priceless.
Good job.
final thoughts on fall "07" looking to spring "08"
Day one was the aforementioned trip to see Marco's employee Marie....suffice it to say this was a barrio that was poverty to the nth degree. It was quite obvious that Marco was recognized and good things were about to happen. After climbing about 40 steps and about 12 neighborhood kids in tow we arrived at our destination. Thank goodness I packed a dozen "beanie babies" Just enough for all those smiling faces. Day 2 was my day to be "property manager". I was tanning poolside at "The Palms" and I encountered a couple inquiring about a 4-month rental. Since there was nobody in the office I took it upon myself to give the "nickle" tour of the complex. At this time I must correct an error in my prior post. I passed the lead to Shawn from Canada not Brooke. Sorry "Don Quixote". Shawn has discovered the key to survival in this town ....multi-tasking...Day four was the most enlightening. I befriended a local native ....a purchasing agent for the town of Sosua..a personal friend of abogado Rafael Merette....we are having drinks at "Sousa Life"...and he points to a fellow Dominicano and procedes to tell me a story of how he got swindled. He gave him some large denonimations of pesos to "break it down" ......needless to say he was short-changed 1000 pesos. I met this "ladron" on my prior trip ....I had him pegged from day one . I only tolerated this pc. of #$$^ because he served as a translator for a fellow American I had met . (thank you Dr1 I would never have fallen for this scam) . Now my new friend wants to enlist my help in "scoring" with one of the bartenders. Having had some success with one the employees I try to set things in motion. My gal says yes ...we will meet you at the entrance to my condo...wrong....despite only trips to this lovely island I can dedect a blatant lie. In the meantime two bouncers from the club show up ......my friend pays these guys 200 pesos to escort us about thirty yards to his vehicle..one of the side streets off Pedro Clisante....so now this "local" is out 1400 pesos and not getting laid....only in the DR....funny stuff....I look forward to the Spring 08 chronilces...coming to town Mar 31
