Barcelo vs Allegro in Playa Dorada

I need some info on the Barcelo (Flamenco) and the Allegro. I know that the Barcelo is being renovated by the new owners. Does anyone know when these room renovations are expected to be completed? I have also heard stories that in both of these hotels, some rooms are in great shape and some are in horrible shape. Has anyone stayed at either of these hotels this month? How was the state of your room?

Still need to know which is the better resort - Allegro or Barcello? Any info would be appreciated.

There are 6 of us looking for a place the first 2 weeks in April our choices for resorts are -
1. Iberostar
2. Blue Bay
3. Gran Ventana
4. then Marien or Barcelo or Allegro

If we can't get the top 3 at a good rate then we shall need to drop down to 4th choice.

Iberostar is the best. I have stayed there five times and would'nt consider anywhere else. Don't expect to get a 'cheap' rate for Iberostar...it won't happen. Be expected too pay about $1500 or more for two weeks in April. It's well worth it, you won 't be disappointed.
