I just returned from trip number 8 to the DR. I had a blast. This time instead of just staying in one location, I did much of the country. I based out of Santo Domingo and stayed at the Maison Gautreaux hotel as always. The hotel is really going through a great renovation and change right before your eyes. They are upgrading it with fresh paint and ammenities and have added food along with a great new operations manager. I was in the country for 20 days total and hit just about every city that I could. I took many many bus trips to local towns and met many new people.
Now doubt about it, this is a great country with great people. I will be back again and again.
Anyone chosing to visit the DR particularly Santo Domingo, should consider the Maison Gautreaux Hotel as the hotel of choice. The price can not be beat and the location is top notch! - I know you'll be just as impressed as I was.
