Default POP airport: I'm in love.

I have no idea what happened to that scary place where people would slash open your bags and steal from you if you dared to refuse them a pay-off, but I am soooo happy its gone. Getting to and from POP was a breeze.

Just 5 years ago, they were still asking for money to not take your stuff. This time I just gave them the customs form I had filled out and that was it. They didnt even check my bags!

I dont know if I was just lucky but I was seriously relieved. I hope it stays that way. I imagine with how slow tourism is there, they cant afford to mess with people like that anymore.

But anyway POP was gorgeous and exactly how I remembered it, even though much has changed....and I wanted to stay permanently. In good time.....

yep, it still surprises me how nobody has tried to steal the "light aircraft" from the front of the building!

The airport looks like a completely different place, I like the money conversion booths (remind you of Pearson sort of lol). The renovations have made quite a difference. I haven't had any problems with my luggage there so far.

I never fill out any forms because first of all the printing is too small and the info is right in front of them. Its tossed into the garbage as soon as you hand it to them. Usually just smile and say I'm vacation.. too tired .... next time. We all have laugh... no headaches. It works for me

oh, i think their approach towards "gringos" has always been more lax than that towards natives. they were pretty darn rough before but...ahh....not anymore! and thank goodness.
