Young man, Puerto Plata is steeped in history, with a plethora of historical buildings; it has an active group of young Dominican artists doing some amazing murals on abandoned buildings, a fully restored Victorian wooden house in Calle Emilio Pru'dhomme - now a school for Integracion Juvenil street children and more....and you think that the Brugal factory and car window washers are representative??? Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear  .
But I understand that life for the film director who cannot choose his locations is difficult. Given the tendency to 'drive past' Puerto Plata, rather than stop and appreciate it, why not make your film into a road movie? Sort of Thelma & Louise meets DK & Mikey the you-know-what.

I thought the "ROAD" movies were with Bing Crosby & Bob Hope???? Occasional cameos with people like Sammy Davies (Jnr) Jack Benny & so on??? Ah well ...... must be my age playing tricks on my mind!!
Puerto Plata has a LOT to offer an aspiring film director ..... if he wants to show THE REAL Dominican Republic!! Here's a novel idea for him - go out in one of the thunderstorms (like the one earlier today) & see all the REAL Dominicans having an extra shower under the overflowing roofs!! Such HAPPY & contented people put the rest of the world to shame! I joined in with their humour as I drove slowly past so as not to splash them further, window down & showed my appreciation of their good humour! ~ Grahame.  |

This is not going on tv ! Your expecting me to do steven spielberg type of stuff now !
Check the description of the video how i mentioned stuff about puerto plata !

Oh DK, you disappoint me . There I was thinking we had a future Juan Castillo or Agliberto Meléndez in our midst and when I get to be an old crone, I could croak 'Ah young DK, we helped him on his way when he was doing drive by shooting in Puerto Plata'. Think big, DK, who knows, one day your talent could blossom. |

You're joking of course DK????
Next time you come to Puerto Plata, go to the Fortress San Filipe, Parque Independancia, cable car, the Amber Museum & that Little Old Lady on her donkey ............ & see how many TOURISTS are filming. Must be about 30 or 40 videos of Puerto Plata done EACH DAY!! I must have personally seen some 15 videos of Puerto Plata TOWN (not the ring road only) over the past 3 years!! Most of those have had some content & REAL Dominican music too. REAL Dominicans, not just greedy & vociferous window cleaning BOYS at traffic lights or some NY guy telling the world how good he is for holding a camera in the air & letting it run ........ on & on & on & ...... 
Sorry, but to be effective as a film director you will need to put some content in, do a decent voice over narrative ................ & LOADS of editing!  ~ Grahame.

Wasnt trying to be a film maker just shooting videos and you cant get more dr then kids washing your windows on the street

If thats what the DR means to you then I feel sorry that you have missed out on a fascinating and diverse country
BTW the last time i had people trying to wash my car widows at a junction it was in Miami....must have been Dominican immigrants eh
