Lengthy, unedited videos that involve you and your friends driving, sitting, talking, and doing other everyday, mundane matters are only of interest to those folks and their friends.

If you want to appeal to a wider audience, learn to edit. Show lots of different shots, people and places of interest. Try for unusual angles, or to present the same things, but from a different perspective.

For example, once, you posted a vid of a friend of yours DJing at Passions in Santiago. Few if any close in shots of the crowd, the excitement, the cute girls, people having fun, etc. Instead, you showed your friend's turntable and him having fun...looking at the turntable. For almost 10 minutes.

Mr. Lu's videos follow these rules, and are very interesting, entertaining and polished. If you want to do better, learn from his work and that of others, and stop making videos that look more like a deposition than a trip to DR.

None of us know Mikey, so why would we be interested in him watching a baseball game, at the Gardens, or doing anything else? We WOULD be interested in him giving a "all access" tour of those spots, or talking with other people - kinda like Jay Leno's old bits.

We appreciate what you're trying to do, and understand that it's all about growth. So grow, and make a point of making each of your new videos better.

The point these guys are trying to make, is that there's no evidence of growth in any of your videos.

You call them different names, but they all boil down to tedious and endless shots of you and your friends sitting around drinking and talking smack. That's fun when you're there, but incredibly boring to people not in your circle of friends.

Watch any of Mr. Lu's videos. The worst one is infinitely more interesting than your stuff. He shows people, places, interesting events, all from a unique perspective. And no, your friends don't count unless they're doing something of interest, and that ain't talking about "which brooklyn rappa ha tha best lyrics."

Lu is an educated man with a deep passion for people and life's mysteries. He is one of the most intelligent young men I've ever met. He is an astute observer who has the unique ability to show folks what he sees and lives in his videos.

DK is a kid whose interests seem limited to cruising with alcohol, living a rappers vicarious fantasy, talking smack, and acting the fool in a place where the locals thing he is somebody he isn't at home.

The only commonality is the media they both use. But Lu's work is Cysteine Chapel, DK's ends up on the fridge by mom.

It's just that DK's work (n.b. term used loosley) contains little or no cultural significance for the Dominican Republic. Culture is multi-faceted. Granted, hip-hop and Reggeaton are clearly integral pieces, but simply not healthy. I think this sort of stuff just promotes socio-pathological behaviors.

Then again, I'm a bidnet guy and not a shrink

I also enjoy Lu's videos, but the Dominican Kid is not trying to be like LU. He has has own style, and his videos are not for everyones taste.Hey I have a good idea, If you don't like them then dont watch them.
The only thing I dont like is that dominican kid's videos are a little orchestrated. I have seen these guys in action in Sosua, and the videos hide a lot of the truth about what happens while they are in Sosua. He needs to change the name of his videos to, never stop exploring, the rated pg version.
Come on Dominican Kid, lets see all the true footage of you and your boys in Sosua.

RSG,

I think that's the board consensus. He shows everything except anything anyone outside of his circle would like to see. Nobody cares about "Mikey the Wop" (that's really one of his friends), unless Mikey is showing off the island, the chicas, the happenings, something, ANYTHING other than sitting around talking about which one of his crew is the really realest of Brooklynites.

Ok, so he wants to do the Never Stop Exploring "NSE" thing. Cool. Then get out and actually explore, and show us what you find. Sitting around extremely well covered Pedro Clisante screaming NSE and how great NYC is without really going somewhere is a waste of footage that defeats his purpose (he's said he wants to get into professional videography) and wastes his audiences time.

Here's a few ideas:
1. Take an excursion
2. Do "on the street" interviews with locals, chicas, expats, etc.
3. Show off some of the less covered areas of the North Coast (start with Charamicos, and work your way out from there)
4. Show off their way of life. As your idea of fun is pouring water on sleeping people, do "fun" stuff, like raid a beauty salon and catch chicas in-between hair weaves/bleachings.
5. No five-minute shots of Mikey (or whoever) proclaiming where the best pizza in Brooklyn is while standing on Sosua Beach. Instead, go search for the best pizza on the North Coast, and video the experience. You'll travel all over, and get lots of good shots of people and scenery.

The list is endless, but here's the key. When you get good footage, sit down and EDIT it. Shorter shots, interesting angles, music that a Dominican might actually listen to.

When it becomes a topic of conversation, then it must have some value to someone.

Are they educational, no. Do they give you an insight into certain peoples mindsets and lifestyles, yes. Is "Punked" or "Jackass" educational, nope, it's just entertainment. Like most forms of entertainment, the viewer has a choice to watch or not.

Exercise your right of choice...
