Thanks Music, you are sweet.

My MP sent me an e-mail today to ask me to fill out a form so they can perform an inquiry into Vetania's visa. I asked Vetania what she wanted me to do, and she asked me to just lay low until January. She wants to apply again (sigh), and if she is not granted a visa at that time, we will then contact my MP and start the fight all over again.

You've got infinite patience. I still don't understand what the difference will be for Vetania between now and then. I wonder how long the inquiry would take.

Please keep us posted!

I would go to the MP and just not tell her you did it, cause what if she gets a visa by january... you won't have to go through all the troubles again... but if she doesn't get it that way, at least when she re-applies in January you're not saying..... "what if..."

Yes, I would demand satisfaction and strike while the iron is hot and not wait until January. If you wait to January you would be going back to square one especially if they see the stamps of rejection in the passport.

Definitely let them do their inquiry - this may be your only chance to get something done!

Thanks for the advice, all - I do appreciate your interest and concern very much. It's nice to know there are people that support me on this, and it's not just me being a b****...I was so torn, because if we continue to raise hell, I am scared that they will blacklist her application, and she will never get a visa. I wouldn't feel right about going behind her back, because I would feel like I was lying and being dishonest. I thought about calling her and persuading her to allow me to fight this denial, but then thought, "What the hell, I am going to call my contact at the Embassy in Santo Domingo and see what her feeling is about this."

The Embassy Rep I have communicated with is very kind. She told me that the Agricultural visas the Embassy issues are only temporary and valid for use during Spring-Fall months, when farmers need assistance (something I didn't realize, but I guess it does make sense). That is why Vetania was told to apply again in January. She said that she'd had a special interest in Vetania's case (because we've communicated in the past), so she talked to the Interviewer following the Interview. The Interviewer said that Vetania had definitely satisfied their concerns, she spoke very good English, and the only reason she hadn't issued a visa is due to the fact that there is no need for Agricultural workers during winter months. All in all, I guess this makes sense.

I was assured that if Vetania applies again in January (again she will have to pay the $110 application fee), she will be issued the visa. She will not need to get another job contract offer because the one she deposited is valid through to October 2007. She will not need another medical, because the one performed will be valid until May 2007. She will also not be asked for another interview.

I guess time will tell if it will be this straight-forward. They will definitely hear from me if the visa isn't issued this Spring. I still don't understand why they couldn't just issue it and date it for March 2007 - I guess that would make too much sense.

What they say and do are two totally different things as you should know ...

Why would you go on someones "word" ... at least get it in writing.

Hi Nikke. Of courfse, with Immigration Canada, we have to start over at square one this year, including the employer applying to have foreigners work forhim. Then he has to draft up a new contract, she has to sign it, take in the papers and a fee again! I have been in contact with the employer, not exactly certain that he's up to the runaround again, but trying to convince him to do so. It's only paperwork, no direct costs for him. I will update as I know anything. Thanks for asking, nice to hear from you, Nikke!
