Now that I think about this, I have never ever heard of a visa being issued for a specific time. They issue visas for a "limited" time, say 30 day, three months or one year, but never for any specific time--"You go in April." No way....

So, the surprise that they granted him a visa is gone, what is probably happening is that there was no visa granted, and the fellow is probably going to try and hit you up for the ticket or something else...

I'd go real slow on this.
