Default Work visa for the US - which one?

Hi all - I am looking to move back to the States for a while with my boyfriend, who is Dominican. He is 22, and has been to the US twice on a tourist visa for athletic competitions. He is a watersports athlete - one of the top in the DR - and we are hoping that he will be able to get employment as a watersports instructor for a school that could solicit the visa for him. Any suggestions of how to go about doing this, and which visa we should apply for? What are his chances of getting one? We were thinking about the "O" visa, which is for people of extraordinary ability, because he is one of the best in his sport here. Anyone have any experience with this visa? Are there any other visa categories we should look at? We really want this to happen, so any advice would be much appreciated.
