Default schengen visa

just to let everyone know:
we decided to go for spanish embassy even thou we won't travel to spain, we just wanted to get schengen visa for miesposo so he can travel with me to polonia (no polish embassy/consulate in DR).
he purchased a ticket in centennial (500 pesos) with a number to call the embassy (works much like getting a start for US visa via banco popular). he called on thursday, got appointment for monday. showed up, as it turned out without insurance (had to buy it in the embassy's office, just for one trip) but some paperwork: letter from work, letter from the back and deeds for the apartment.
appointment lasted less than 10 minutes (which gave him lots of time for a visit to la cuchara de madera before taking metro back to POP). was told to come back in 11 days and that a decision as to what type of visa he will get will be made before that. today he went to the embassy again, no queue, got his passport with 2-years, multiple entry schengen visa.
no fuss, no problem. nice and neat.

Do you think this is also possible if there is an embassy from your country? You just gave the papers from poland? I mean that he was gonna stay in your house etc.?

Does the spanish embassy have a website? I cant find it looking on google, just an emailing adress

we did not provide any invitations or papers from poland. miesposo took a copy of our marriage certificate and a copy of my passport - since i am a citizen of EU and schengen state. in all miesposo did not produce that many papers since it was all done in a rush, i think the fact he had schengen visa previously helped a lot.
the page with an address: EMBAJADA DE ESPAÑA EN DOMINICANA, REPúBLICA also provides other info, click on links under INFORMACION, on the right side...
theoretically you have to apply for a visa in the embassy of the country you will spend most of your time in but...

If he had a Visa before, than the whole thread is meaningless. How did he get it the first time? Once you get one and come back, it is easy to get another. This applies to any country.

No, thats not always true! My husband got a schengen visa 2 times, after we got married they denied him. Visa for the usa was no problem and now he has a schengen visa for another state, but still cant get a tourist visa from my country!

I agree. If what SKY says were correct, visas wouldn't have an expiry date. Having had a visa in the past definitely helps your case, but it isn't a cast-iron guarantee.

Read my post. I said it was easier to get. We need to know how it went the first time for the full info on this. Do you not agree?

Oh yes, I agree that the previous Schengen visa would have helped his case, but I disagree that "the whole thread is meaningless" - because as I said, it is not a cast-iron guarantee that they will re-issue.

This is also very useful information for travellers in this particular situation - people who are travelling to a Schengen country that doesn't have an embassy in the DR, in this case Poland*. I'm pretty sure based on what dv8 has said in the past that his previous travel to Europe was to a country with an embassy in the DR, which is a much more straightforward procedure.

*Having said that, there is an embassy or consulate here in Bella Vista that I guessed was Polish. Must double-check that flag
