Your welcome
The Embassy is "supposed" to send an acknowledgement letter and this would contain the B File number. Haiti does not seem to follow this protocol and seeing as they rarely respond to people's emails it's hard to get the B File number. I know Castro mentioned they did email her husband but I don't think they email everyone (if an email was provided).
I posted in another thread that if you look on other Embassy's websites you will see that they may indicate a letter will be sent out and advise how much time you should wait before contacting them. I would assume this to mean they would actually respond to you and give you the requested B File number.

I just phoned Mississagua to inquire about the B file number and more info on it.
He said that the Client ID number and the B file number provided the same information.
I asked also if there was a way to know if my papers had indeed arrived in Haiti and he said that they are all sent electronically and he could guarantee they had them. He said no matter what people say a pigeon does not fly them there. He was really nice. He told me that he could see that they had sent a positive acknowledgement with the file.

He also said I could call them to find out more information if I wanted to and I told him their website says not to contact them and he laughed. He said he could understand that since they are one of the busiest offices in the world and have to deal with several countries applications.
I asked if the new changes Ottawa is making towards Immigration would affect sponsoring a spouse and he said right now it would not. He said it would only affect sponsoring parent and children and skilled workers applying.

Actually as per the ECas website you do need the B file number to see the sponsored persons information.
Q6: I am sponsoring a member of my family and cannot see the status of my application on CAS. Why?
A6: When trying to retrieve information about a sponsorship application, it is important to make sure that all the fields in CAS contain information about the sponsor. For example, to see the status of a sponsorship application sent to the case processing centre in Mississauga, you must use the sponsor's identification number (example: client #, receipt no, etc), along with the sponsor's name, date of birth and country of birth. To see the status of the sponsored individual's application for permanent residence being processed, you must use the sponsored individual's identification number (example: client no, receipt no, etc), as well as his/her name, date of birth and country of birth.
I wish I had managed to save something I read before in FAQ but it gave the definitions of what the status updates are for the sponsored individuals application.
Castro, correct me if I'm wrong but using the B File number can you not see more info (or details) than you can using your client id??

Hi Johana
I don't understand why you already are contacting your MP. You really only started the process. So it's not like things are'nt moving fast and your not hearing anything. You basically only started. From what I can remember.. How long ago did you put your papers in? It's been almost 14 months that we sent in our application..... And if you call Mississauga, they don't even see anything wrong because they have up until 17 months to complete it. I'm sure everything is okay with your process. Did your MP say that they are begining to process your file?

Well anytime I have used my husbands B client number, I don't see anymore info, then if I use my client number I was given.

A couple of weeks ago my wife received a phone call from the embassy requesting her to redo her police certificate and medical. Once she finished that request I sent an email to Haiti through Citizenship and Immigration Canada's web page. I received an email back from Haiti 10 minutes later; saying they are still waiting for medical results to arrive. They also said that once they get the results they will finalize our application.....:-)

hey people don't try to get desperate and rush everything and be patient, the more patient you are the faster the process is going to be... my process started february 12nd and the website just changed last week and it now says "in process" you should at least wait 7 to 8 months to start enquiring about ur process in haiti or contacting your MP...hope this helps
