All I can say is wow!!!
It's frustrating enough to be apart, waiting with no answers, having to go to your MP to get anything done and then to get such contradictory information regarding something so important in your life.
I'm keeping positive thoughts for you

Default fingers crossed

My advice is to try not to get too worked up about something that we can't change.

Our husbands/wives will all be here with us long before the canadian immigration system has been revamped & modernized.

The more we focus on the tiny details the harder it is going to be to wait.

I understand & agree that many of these things don't make any sense and in fairness we should at least have a competant way to follow the status of our process and feel confident that things are moving closer to "decision made".

I also know that if I spend too much time checking & checking & rechecking the status that 9 months - 1 year is going to feel like an eternity.

I know I have already waited more than 3 years to get married...so 1 more to be together is really not that long....Now....give it a few months & I may have something different to say.

Mart this is your 2nd time appying...are things much slower this time around compared to your first time applying.

I know its not easy for anyone...good luck to us all!

Default That is so true...

It gets very frustrating to go through all the B.S. just in order to be together. We have been together for 3 years which 2 of them we've been engaged. We are just starting the procedure for our papers and just looking at all the documents to be filled out... brings us lots of frustration and confusion. Thank God we are a very patient couple otherwise we'd be over by now.

Keep us updated on your experiences...it's like a support group!!!

Be strong...be positive!!!

My first time we applied
I sent papers late July
approved as sponsor in August
papers sent to Haiti in Sept
my husband's interview was January
got a letter stating he was denied in late January
went to Santo Domingo in Feb to embassy to have some questions answered, we were told they would review the decision
March recieved letter stating it was in deed going to be denied
April started our process for a new application
and here we are now. so all I can hope for is the same time line.( 4 months after they started processing) Also according to my MP that is why they wanted originals because this si our 2nd application.

ok after speaking with my MP's office. This was what Haiti replied about the timeline. They started processing our application in January this being the electronic copy sent, Feb 8th is when they received the hard copy, after reveiwing the application they wanted originals, ( which apparently is the case when it is your 2nd application) they also said we can request all our info and photos be returned to us ( we'll see if that is true) they will not provide any notes they have made that will all be shredded. So my MP sent another note stating we wanted all documents returned to my husband when he picks up his visa.

Question Does anyone know what they are doing over there???

Well, I don't know how anyone else feels about all this. But it's like these people working over in Haiti think this is all a big game. They really don't realize what they do and don't do, how it effects all of us and the people involved. This whole process puts alot of strain on a relationship. This has to be the most unorganized Embassy in the world. I think Ottawa needs to go down and clean house, and hire people who want to do the work and keep things rolling. So who ever is sponsoring or being sponsored can be with their loved ones sooner, not later. Marto417, I read your post and it sounds fishy to me. How the hell do they get all these dates mixed up?? Are they randomly just guessing what they are freakin doing. It does'nt seem like any of these people who work down there are qualified to do the job. Heck all of us on here would be able to do a better job. Even with our eyes closed lol.

I agree Castro, The answer to most of our frustrations is for Haiti to just respond to a simple email, give updates for those who ask. I understand that they are busy with many applications, but the amount of money spent on the application itself, you should be able to get some answers. I know for me when I sent our application to Mississauga in October 2006. The woman at the Embassy in Santo Domingo told us it's a 6 month waiting period....why lie? I understand it is possible for it to be completed in 6 months, but why not take the time to explain the process a little better.....Other games they have played....like I mentioned on another thread. Was when the embassy called my wife requesting her to bring in her passport, so they can issue her, her visa......which again was a complete lie! Little screw ups like that play with peoples hearts......and I for one am fed up with it. I have my fingers again waiting for them to complete our application..... I haven't gone down the MP route yet, I found that sending heart filled warm letters seems to work for us. out of 4 emails sent, they responded to 2.....so I am thankful that they have given us some light, while we travel down this never ending tunnel of darkness....Castro I'm sure it would put your heart at ease if they would just reassure you once an awhile what is going on.....me and you have both been waiting a hell of a long time

Angry Not happy.....

Thanks Marxsis, Yes I do believe we are the oldies on here and mart0417 too. I think all of us have been patient enough, now we need some answers or just give them the freakin visa. I know all about the games the are playing too. I told you when my husband went to Santo Domingo to get bring his passport too, when all it was is for him to redo all his papers again. Because they let them expire. Don't forget all about the scam we went through in December. The fasle hope .. We were all excited, I told all my family he was coming. And then the big bomb dropped...That was my breaking point, I'm tired of all their ****. Someone needs to kick them in the ass and straighten them out. Well I don't know if you saw my post yesterday. But my husband did his papers before your wife(2-3 weeks earlier) I told you. And now I recieved an e-mail from them last thursday telling me that they are checking is bachground futher.. so this will take another few months... Few months....I don't have another few months.. It's so funny we did everything they asked for, but yet they have never said anything ever was wrong with his application or that they needed anymore stuff, so what's the problem. Besides having to redo the medical, police certificate. Why do they have to prolong this. I told my husband the only thing I can think of is they are going to make us wait the whole 17 months. How fair is this when you have done everthing they have asked for.....

You all have to have patience as the Government wants to just make sure that all is of the up & up with the spouses you all are bringing here to Canada. They don't want to have to start taking money from you if your spouses decide to leave you after a few months or a year or whenever, before your sponsorship of three years is up.You don't realize that they are not trying intentionally to keep you apart but really protecting your interests in the long run.

Canajungirl, I understand what you are saying about the government wanting to protect people. But the thing we are finding frustrating is the GAMES they play. If they want us to wait...TELL US...it's quite simple......Dear Sir, we have started your application we will take 17 months. DO NOT tell us 6 months. Also DO NOT call us and get our hopes up for NOTHING. That's what Castro and I are going through. I totally understand the government would want to make sure everything is 'up & up', but I would rather them be straight up and be completely honest. I have a daughter and wife that I have been trying to get here, now for awhile.....I lived in DR with them for awhile, but after talking we both know that moving to Canada would hold a much better future.
