My husband received a letter today dated April 22 requesting an original marriage certificate and photocopy of the civil documents to be sent to the Embassy within 90 days.

Luckily my husband requested 2 marriage certificates and had both of them translated back in October. And he has another birth certificate with a translation. So my father-in-law will send the documents via courier tomorrow (I want to be able to track the documents ) My husband wanted to send more documents...but I said noooooooooooooo only send what they ask for.

This letter contained the elusive Bfile number. So I checked the website and it says that they started processing his application on January 31, 2008.

As much as I am trying to focus on the positive (if they are requesting docs. then they really are working on the file) it does make me wonder why the website has never been updated under my client id. Also, why do they need a copy of his birth certificate if we sent an original?? That one doesn't make sense to me and makes me laugh - but we will send whatever they ask for if it means getting him here .

I have no idea why they are asking for these documents as they have a copy of the marriage certificate and want an original....they have an original birth certificate and want a copy. We will just send them and see what happens next.

Yes, we definitely have to reschedule coffee sorry last week was a bad work week for me.

The letter itself to not specify the civil documents. This is from the guide for Haiti regarding civil documents.

2. IDENTITY AND CIVIL STATUS DOCUMENTS
Birth, extract from the Archives of the birth certificates (declaration made at birth), baptism certificate
legalized by the diocese or the Ministère des Cultes, marriage, final divorce, annulment or
separation certificates for you and your spouse or common-law partner; death certificate for former
spouse, if applicable. Photocopy of Citizenship Certificate or Immigrant Visa for any dependents
who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

So we are resending his birth certificate but only a photocopy this time.

Gracias Evelin

I know Mart's husband was also asked for an original marriage certificate and other documents so I wasn't too shocked when my husband told me that. I think the same person is processing both of our files as neither have been updated on the website and yet they have both been in process since January lol.

Did they send an e-mail or an actual letter? How did they get it since the postal system isn't that great!

They sent a letter in the mail. The letter was dated April 22 and he received it May 5.
My husband lives right in Puerto Plata and I've never had any problems sending him mail. And there is no street address or postal code. Just the neighbourhood, the building and the apartment number
