Default Sponsership of spouse to Canada

Thinking of sponsering spouse to live in Canada...need assistance with documents due to language barrier...should I hire lawyer to assist? Looking for Suggestions and recommendations...very difficult process for completing necessary documents...papers need to be precise and complete to avoid longer waiting time...

Hi, so that I'm clear on what you are asking for, let me ask;

are you a citizen or a permanent residence of Canada? Is it English you need assistance with?

We have many threads in the visa forum. To get you started here's one http://www.dr1.com/forums/visas/7488...on-canada.html

You don't need to hire a lawyer in Canada to fill the papers but if you find it overwhelming be sure its an Immigration lawyer and not a consulate.

AnnaC...thanks for responding...I am a Canadian citizen living in Canada. My husband lives in the DR. He does not speak English and I do not speak enough Spanish to be able to help. I was looking to get someone (immigration lawyer or someone else) to assist him in completing the forms. Canadian gov't is difficult and could send back papers to me if they are not complete therefore making the waiting time painfully slower...I know that this takes a lonnnggg time. I understand that it could be years before he arrives and if they grant him the visas. I forgot to mention that I have the package of documents here with me for him to complete. I will send them when I know how I can get him help. In the documents, he needs to obtain many items....

jojo I think the majority of the Dominican spouses would have a problem filling out the application so I think maybe we'll see what others have done when applying.

We have several Canadians going through the process right now and I'm sure they will be helpful in answering your question.

jojocdn,

I filled out all of the forms for both myself and my husband. When it came to the detailed information I made sure that I wrote it as my husband would have.

You could fill out the forms for him and get him to sign in the appropriate places.

I also filled out all the forms for both of us. I had my husband write all the details down....work info, addresses etc. and then copied it out.

Default Forms

Hey there, where in Canada are you from?
Just cause Quebec is diffirent then Ontario and other provinces..
I lived in Dominican when I did the forms with my husband, but I wrote it all myself and he gave me all the details.. We did our papers ourself and saved alot of money this way!
You can do most of the paper work yourself and then just have him sign the documents he needs to sign. If you need help PM me and I could help.
You need to make sure your marriage certificate and his birth certificate are the "Inextensa Version" Long version... that Inextensa copy of your marriage certificate and his birthcertifcate are the ones you need translated into english and legalized....
Goodluck
