He can go to the American Embassy and apply for an intransit visa, or he can fly Air Canada direct to Toronto then fly westJet to Calgary.

Default Lucky you and lucky him

I guess CIC doesnt know about your relationship with him, for them is a potential stay over. Dont take me wrong eh!.

Well best and easy for now I believe Air Canada from:

POP
LRM
PUJ
SDQ
to Toronto or Montreal
Or Apply for a US Transit visa, if he got the visa to Canada I guess will be
easier for him to get one to US.

Good luck and congratz.

WestJet flies POP to TO to Calgary on Saturdays. Would that work? Air Canada is the carrier of choice, I believe, but very expensive.

WestJet is far superior to Air Canada.

West jet maybe not work. Mart just posted in another thread that she called and they said that as long as one has a Canadian permanent residency card and a passport no problems.

Since this fellow only has visitor visa this won't work.

Default Since when did the USA start offering in transit visas again?

It was my understanding that transit visas through the US are not issued any more. Can anyone confirm that?

I believe direct to Canada from the DR is the only way possible ( unless you take some roundabout way through Panama). Please correct me if I am wrong.
